What happened
The incident involved a single-engine airplane operating a taxi service. The flight originated from Durban with the destination set for Basutoland. During the en-route phase, the pilot identified mechanical issues related to the engine performance. In response to these difficulties, the crew executed a precautionary landing in an open field situated within Bethlehem.
Following the initial touchdown, the aircraft attempted to depart the site. However, immediately after takeoff, the pilot lost control of the machine. The airplane subsequently impacted the ground in a nearby pasture. Emergency responders located both individuals on board and successfully rescued them from the wreckage. The airframe sustained extensive structural damage, rendering it damaged beyond repair.
