What happened
The crew was operating a ferry flight departing from RAF Sherburn-in-Elmet. During the en-route phase, the pilot encountered deteriorating weather conditions that necessitated an immediate response. In an attempt to execute an emergency landing, the aircraft struck a hedge before finally coming to rest in an open field.
Despite the impact and subsequent collision with vegetation, both occupants emerged from the wreckage uninjured. The structural integrity of the airframe was compromised significantly by the accident, resulting in damage that rendered the machine beyond repair.
