Disappearance
A single-engine airplane was conducting a charter flight from Turbo to Medellín with an intermediate stop in Juradó, Colombia. Approximately 20 minutes after departing from Juradó, the aircraft disappeared from radar. The pilot did not transmit any distress call prior to the loss of contact.
Search Efforts
When the airplane failed to arrive at its destination in Medellín, search and rescue (SAR) operations were initiated. However, after several days, the search was suspended as no trace of the aircraft or its six occupants had been found.
Discovery
Twelve years later, the wreckage was located in an isolated and uninhabited area near Serranía del Baudó. The site was approximately 100 kilometers south of the scheduled route between Juradó and Medellín.
