What happened

During the initial climb following departure from the Barranquilla-Ernesto Cortissoz Airport, a Bandeirante aircraft entered into a collision with a Lockheed T-33 operated by the Colombian Air Force. Following the impact, the crew of the Bandeirante managed to decrease their altitude and execute an emergency landing within a lagoon situated in Malambo, approximately 4 km southeast of the departure airfield.

Despite the severity of the incident, all seven occupants on board the Bandeirante were successfully rescued from the wreckage. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss. Simultaneously, the pilot of the T-33 was able to perform a safe emergency landing following the encounter.
