Shortly after departing from the Huánuco-Alferez David Figueroa Fernandini Airport, an aircraft entered a climb toward an altitude of 10,000 feet. During this ascent, the plane collided with a mountain slope within the Montañas de Carpish Mountain Range, situated approximately 50 km north of Huánuco.

Search efforts located the debris field several hours after the incident, positioned roughly 30 meters beneath the mountain summit. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the airframe. There were 67 fatalities recorded, representing all individuals on board. The passengers and crew included citizens from various nations, specifically 45 Peruvians, 8 Americans, 5 French, 5 Italians, 2 British, and 2 Belgians. At the time of the accident, the flight was en route to Tingo Maria National Park, located west of Las Palmas.
