What happened

During a flight originally destined for Huê Airport, the flight crew received instructions from Air Traffic Control to divert their path to Đà Nẵng Airport. This instruction was issued because of unfavorable weather conditions encountered during the descent.

As the aircraft was performing a low-altitude approach toward the Đà Nẵng airfield, it collided with a mountain peak measuring 970 meters in elevation. The impact occurred in the vicinity of Cloud Pass, situated approximately 17 km north of the destination airport.
