Incident Overview
A cargo flight arriving from Medellín-José María Córdova (Rionegro) Airport conducted a normal approach and landing on runway 09R at Miami International Airport. After touchdown, the aircraft traveled approximately 100–120 meters before the crew activated the thrust reverser systems. At that point, the right main landing gear collapsed, causing the aircraft to veer to the right. It came to rest near taxiway U.
Crew and Aircraft Status
All three crew members on board evacuated the aircraft safely. The aircraft itself sustained damage beyond economic repair.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined that the probable cause of the accident was the failure of the right main landing gear after landing due to improper torque of a landing gear lockbolt by company maintenance personnel during landing gear installation.
