What happened
During the landing phase on runway 05 at Mogadishu-Aden Abdulle Airport, the aircraft experienced a loss of control. As the plane veered off the active runway, the impact caused the left wing to separate from the fuselage. The aircraft subsequently overturned and landed in an inverted position, which triggered a post-crash fire.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and managed to suppress the flames relatively quickly. All 36 occupants were able to evacuate the wreckage following the accident. While there were no fatalities, three passengers sustained minor injuries during the excursion.
Findings
- The aircraft departed the runway surface during the landing roll.
- The structural integrity of the aircraft was compromised when the left wing was lost during the excursion.
