Incident Sequence
During descent to Guayaramerín Airport, approximately seven minutes prior to the estimated time of arrival, the pilot informed air traffic control of a left engine failure. The pilot continued the approach despite the failure. After touchdown, the aircraft was unable to stop within the remaining runway distance. It overran the runway, subsequently losing its undercarriage and right wing before coming to rest.
Evacuation
All 44 occupants on board evacuated the aircraft safely. No injuries were reported.
Aircraft Damage
The aircraft sustained substantial damage during the overrun. It lost its undercarriage and right wing, and was ultimately damaged beyond repair.
Probable Cause
According to the official investigation, the probable cause of the accident was the failure of the left engine on approach for unknown reasons.
