What happened
On a scheduled flight designated as GH200, an aircraft operated for the Ghana Air Force was traveling from Tamale to Accra. As the flight was performing its final approach to runway 21 at Accra-Kotoka Airport, the crew encountered severe weather characterized by heavy rain and significantly reduced visibility.
During the landing sequence, the aircraft descended in a nose-down attitude and struck the runway surface with high force, making primary contact with the nose. The impact was severe enough to cause the airframe to break into two separate pieces before the wreckage came to a halt. The accident resulted in seven fatalities among the passengers, while several other individuals sustained injuries, some of which were classified as serious.
