What happened
The flight originated at Oripää Airport with a destination of Turku. The aircraft was transporting a wounded soldier along with three crew members. During the initial climb phase, shortly after leaving the ground, at least one engine ceased functioning. This mechanical issue led to an aerodynamic stall, causing the plane to descend rapidly into a forested region in Latva, approximately five kilometers from the departure point. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the airframe. Despite the severity of the crash, all three members of the crew emerged without injury. The injured soldier passenger was subsequently evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Findings
Investigations into the incident determined that the engine malfunction stemmed from air in the fuel supply system. This contamination disrupted the normal flow of fuel to the engine, leading to the loss of power and the subsequent crash.
