History of the Flight
On 9 August 2018, the aircraft, a Thrush S2R-T34 registered as 8R-AAG, was chartered to conduct four aerial fertilization operations on rice fields near MARDS Airstrip, Guyana. The aircraft was based at that airstrip. During the landing roll after the final operation, the pilot reported that with all three wheels on the ground and the tailwheel locked, he applied brakes and the aircraft began to drift left. Despite applying more right brake, forward stick, and right rudder, the tailwheel remained locked and the aircraft continued off the left side of the runway. The pilot then applied maximum braking on both wheels and moved the throttle lever to full reverse. The aircraft decelerated but did not stop until it struck the airstrip fence, 2,075 feet from the beginning of the 2,400-foot runway.
Injuries to Persons
The pilot, the only occupant, was not injured. There were no injuries to any other persons.

The aircraft's propeller struck a fence post, resulting in damage to the propeller and engine.

No other damage was reported.
Pilot Information
The pilot was a 52-year-old Jamaican male holding a Guyana Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) issued 16 October 2017, with a valid medical certificate through 31 October 2018. He held ratings for single and multi-engine land aircraft and had completed his last proficiency check on type on 12 July 2018.
