What happened
Upon completing its touchdown at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, the aircraft experienced issues maintaining control within the available runway length. The plane failed to decelerate sufficiently, leading to an excursion from the paved surface. During the overrun, the aircraft entered a ditch, where the force of the impact caused extensive destruction to the cockpit area.
Despite the severity of the impact, all passengers were successfully evacuated from the vessel without injury. However, the incident resulted in three injuries sustained by the crew members located in the cockpit, who were reported to be seriously hurt during the collision with the ditch.
Findings
- The aircraft was unable to come to a halt within the remaining runway distance following touchdown.
- The failure to stop within the available runway length led to the vehicle leaving the prepared surface and impacting a ditch.
