Incident
On January 15, 2022, at 14:27 UTC, Avior Airlines flight YV2794, a Boeing 737-232, began its takeoff roll from Runway at General José Antonio Anzoátegui International Airport (SVBC) in Barcelona, Venezuela, en route to Las Américas International Airport (MDSD) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The aircraft had 51 persons on board: pilot, co-pilot, three cabin crew, and 46 passengers. During the takeoff roll, the captain observed a discrepancy between his airspeed indicator and altimeter and those of the first officer. The difference was 60 knots in speed and 200 feet in altitude. The captain informed air traffic control that the crew would abort the takeoff and return to the ramp due to the instrument indication difference. All occupants were uninjured. The aircraft sustained no damage; the event was classified as a system/component failure (SCF-NP).

The last scheduled maintenance was performed by OMAC-N 440, Avior Airlines' maintenance organization at SVBC.
Crew
The pilot in command, age 35, held an airline transport pilot license with type ratings for Boeing 737-232 and Boeing 747-400, and had 2,600 hours on the 737 and 5,500 total hours. The first officer, age 32, held a commercial pilot license with a 737-232 type rating. Both had valid medical certificates.
Investigation
The investigation was conducted by the Junta Investigadora de Accidentes e Incidentes de Aviación Civil (JIAAC). Inspection and testing of the pitot-static system were performed, including flushing and a functional test per maintenance manuals, which operated satisfactorily. The maintenance records showed no prior anomalies. The investigation reported that the weather at the time was unlimited visibility and generally good. The JIAAC issued a preventive measure to the operator to review maintenance scheduling for the pitot-static system across its fleet.
