What happened
On September 3, 2025, a Beechcraft C90, registration YV2410, was performing a corporate flight from Maiquetia International Airport to Puerto Ordaz "General Manuel Carlos Piar" Airport. The aircraft, operated by Naviera Astera Maris C.A., was carrying two crew members.
After landing on runway 08, the aircraft traveled approximately 50 meters before the main landing gear collapsed. This caused the aircraft to slide for an additional 150 meters along the runway, eventually coming to a stop near intersection B. The crew immediately followed engine shutdown procedures and evacuated the aircraft. Both occupants were uninjured, though the aircraft sustained significant damage.
The investigation
The JIAAC conducted an inspection of the aircraft and interviewed the flight crew. Investigators reviewed several documents, including pilot licenses, medical certificates, flight logs, and maintenance records from the maintenance organization (OMAC N° 692) that performed the most recent scheduled services. The investigation also included a photographic survey of the damage at the scene.
Findings
The inspection revealed extensive damage to several parts of the aircraft, including:
- Fuselage: Damage to the lower fuselage skin and the ventral fin along its entire length.
- Landing Gear: Damage to the main landing gear doors, the right actuator base, and a rupture in the right actuator.
- Wings: Damage to both the left and right inner and outer flap sections, as well as a dent in the right nacelle.
- Propulsion: Damage to the right propeller blades, noting that an inspection is required due to a sudden engine stoppage on the right side.
