What happened
On March 16, 2023, at approximately 01:10 UTC, a private Cessna C550 was conducting a non-scheduled transport flight from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (SABE) to Corrientes Airport (SARC). While the aircraft was in the cruise phase of flight near the KILIP waypoint on airway UL793, the cabin underwent a depressurization.
Following the loss of pressure, the aircraft's oxygen masks were automatically deployed. The crew responded to the emergency by initiating a descent to a safer altitude. The aircraft subsequently arrived at its destination airport without further incident or damage to the airframe.
The investigation
The JST preliminary report focused on the flight path and the mechanical response of the aircraft's pressurization system. The investigation established that the flight involved a total of seven occupants, including two crew members and five passengers. There were no injuries reported among the occupants, and no damage was sustained by the LV-WJO during the event.
