What happened
On August 9, 2024, at approximately 14:47 UTC, a Cessna 152 II, registration LV-OJF, was involved in a fatal accident in the city of Rosario, Santa Fe. The aircraft departed from the Rosario Aeroclub using runway 01 and initially turned southward. After approximately 30 minutes of flight, the aircraft was observed flying at a low altitude near the Air Liquide gas bottling plant located within the Rosario municipal area.
During this period, the aircraft performed maneuvers in various directions before executing a controlled impact into the facility's cargo sector, specifically hitting the area where oxygen cylinders are stored. The impact caused the total destruction of the aircraft. There was one fatality involving the pilot, with no other injuries reported.
The investigation
The preliminary investigation focused on the flight path and the final moments of the aircraft's operation. Investigators established that the flight was categorized as general aviation and was part of a local itinerary between the Alvear/Aeroparque Rosario departure and destination points. The investigation examined the aircraft's trajectory from its takeoff at the aeroclub to its low-altitude maneuvers over the industrial zone and the subsequent collision with the oxygen tube storage area.
