What happened
During the en route phase of flight, a three-engine aircraft christened 'Friedrich Dahmen' came under attack from a Royal Air Force Mosquito fighter. The pilot of the attacking aircraft engaged the target, leading to significant damage or loss of control for the civilian crew.
In an effort to save the remaining occupants, the crew attempted to reduce altitude to execute an emergency landing. Despite these efforts, the aircraft was unable to reach a suitable airfield and ultimately crash-landed in a nearby field. The impact resulted in one passenger being killed.
