Incident Overview
During a flight segment from Jacksonville to Miami, the crew encountered technical problems and made the decision to divert to Orlando-Herndon Airport. While executing a night approach, the airplane became uncontrollable and crashed onto a house located short of the runway threshold.
Damage and Casualties
The aircraft was destroyed in the impact. All three occupants were killed. No injuries were reported on the ground.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined that the loss of control on final approach was the consequence of insufficient speed, as the pilot failed to maintain flying speed. Additionally, a failure of a fuel pump forced the crew to modify their route, which was attributed to faulty maintenance and servicing.
