What happened
Following its arrival at Campinas-Viracopos Airport, a twin engine airplane experienced a loss of braking capability or insufficient stopping distance during the landing roll. The aircraft was unable to decelerate within the available runway length, leading to an excursion. The plane overran the end of the paved surface and came to a halt several dozen meters beyond the runway threshold.
While the incident resulted in the aircraft being damaged beyond repair, there were no casualties reported. Both members of the flight crew managed to exit the wreckage without sustaining any injuries.
Findings
- The primary factor in the accident was the inability to stop the aircraft within the remaining runway distance after touchdown.
