Accident Details
The aircraft departed Toluca-Licenciado Adolfo López Mateos International Airport on a positioning flight designated as an ambulance service, destined for Cuernavaca. On board were two doctors and two pilots. After landing on runway 20 at Cuernavaca Airport, the crew initiated the braking procedure, but the airplane was unable to stop within the remaining distance. It overran the runway, descended a steep embankment, and came to rest in bushes, where it burst into flames.
Damage and Fatalities
The airplane was totally destroyed by the impact forces and subsequent post-crash fire. All four occupants—the two pilots and two doctors—were killed.
Investigation Findings
Investigators believe that the airplane landed too far down the runway, resulting in insufficient landing distance available to bring the aircraft to a stop before the runway end.
