What happened
During an arrival at Nanisivik Airport, the aircraft's undercarriage failed as it touched down on the runway. The structural collapse of the landing gear occurred immediately upon contact with the ground.
While the incident resulted in no fatalities or injuries, the impact caused extensive damage to the airframe. Due to the severity of the mechanical failure and subsequent impact, the aircraft was declared a total loss and was deemed beyond economical repair.
Findings
Official investigations into the event concluded that the primary factor was an undercarriage failure during the landing phase. The specific underlying reason for why the gear collapsed at the moment of touchdown remains undetermined.
