What happened
Following the completion of a humanitarian relief mission in response to recent earthquake activity, a flight was returning to Doshan Tappeh AFB. During the final approach phase of the flight, the aircraft experienced a sudden loss of power in one of its engines. In response to this mechanical failure, the pilot initiated a go-around procedure.
During this maneuver, the aircraft was unable to maintain its altitude and subsequently descended into the ground. The impact resulted in a total of nine fatalities and left four occupants seriously injured.
Findings
Investigations into the accident determined that the primary factor leading to the crash was an engine failure occurring while the aircraft was on final approach.
