What happened
During a scheduled local training session at Montijo Air Base, a four-engine aircraft was performing a series of touch-and-go maneuvers. While executing the takeoff roll on runway 26, the aircraft lost its position on the runway centerline, drifting toward the left before the flight became uncontrollable. The aircraft subsequently veered toward the right side of the runway.
The aircraft traveled approximately 1,460 meters beyond the runway threshold before impacting the ground. The impact was followed by a significant post-crash fire that consumed the airframe. The accident resulted in three fatalities and four injuries among the crew members on board. The aircraft was completely destroyed during the event.
Findings
- The aircraft experienced a loss of directional control during the takeoff roll.
