Contract and Flight Planning
A contract between the Yakutia Aviation Forest Protection Base and the airline AK "MiAn" (dated March 24, 2025, No. 0816500000625002949) covered aviation services for forest aerial work in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in 2025. On June 10, 2025, a flight was planned to inspect a thermal point (coordinates 64°38'46" N, 136°35'24" E) for forest fire monitoring. The flight plan for class G and C airspace was filed by the second pilot via the internet-based flight plan submission system, and Air Traffic Control clearance was obtained in due time.
Crew and Pre-Flight Procedures
On June 10, 2025, around 10:00, the pilot-in-command, second pilot, flight observer, and aircraft technician arrived at Teply Klyuch airfield. The crew underwent a pre-flight medical examination at the Khandyga airport medical station (Teply Klyuch airfield). Meteorological information was obtained by the second pilot at the Teply Klyuch aerodrome meteorological station at 10:15.
Aircraft and Loading
The technician performed operational maintenance equivalent to a pre-flight check and departure support. The Antonov An-2 (registration RA-81532) was fueled with aviation gasoline B-91/115 to a volume of 700 liters (530 kg). Onboard cargo, consisting of firefighting team equipment, weighed 350 kg. Before departure, the aircraft mass was approximately 4620 kg, with a center of gravity at 25.7% MAC, which was within the limits specified in the An-2 flight manual (CG range 17.2–33.0% MAC, maximum takeoff weight not stated).
