What happened
On March 19, 2026, the director of the aviation enterprise "Regionalavia" approved a plan for agricultural work in the Nekhaevsky district of Volgograd Oblast. A flight was scheduled for March 20, 2026, from the Kamishin airfield to the Dynamo airfield. The assigned crew consisted of the pilot-in-command and an instructor pilot.
The flight plan for the An-2 RA-84629 was submitted to the Regional Center of the Unified Air Traffic Management System in Rostov-on-Don on March 20, 2026, at 06:14 via internet and telephone systems. Permission to use airspace was granted by the center at 06:21 on the same day.
The crew arrived at the Kamishin airfield at 04:30 on March 20, 2026, and began pre-flight preparations. The company's aviation personnel performed operational maintenance according to form "PR+OV" (work order No. 319 dated March 20, 2026). The crew accepted the aircraft without remarks, noting this in the flight log.
The investigation
Calculations conducted by the pilot-in-command indicated that the total fuel load before takeoff was 600 kg and oil was 70 kg. The combined mass of the two crew members was 160 kg, and the service cargo weighed 500 kg. According to the aircraft's center of gravity chart, the estimated takeoff weight was 4,710 kg. This figure did not exceed the established maximum takeoff weight of 5,250 kg. The calculated center of gravity was 26.9%, which remained within the permissible range of 17.2% to 33% specified in the aircraft's flight manual.
