On July 26, 2022, at approximately 08:00, a Po-2U aircraft, registration RA-3106G, was positioned at the Ulan-Ude (Eastern) airfield for a flight intended to test-fly the aircraft and ferry it to a different landing site. The flight was operated by a private individual, with the aircraft owner present on board as a passenger.
Prior to departure, the pilot-in-command completed a medical examination at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant medical center at 09:30. A pre-flight briefing was conducted at the Aeronavigation Information Service (AIS) office, where the pilot received necessary navigation and meteorological information. The flight was planned to take place within Class C airspace in the vicinity of the Ulan-Ude (Eastern) airfield.
Flight documentation indicates that the aircraft owner submitted a flight plan and received authorization from the Irkutsk Regional Center of the Air Traffic Management System. The flight was coordinated with the senior aviation officer and included in the airfield's planned schedule. The pilot-in-command maintained communication with air traffic control throughout the pre-flight phase.
Following the pre-flight inspection and checks of the aircraft's systems, the engine failed during the flight. This failure necessitated a forced landing outside of the airfield. During the landing sequence, the aircraft struck an obstacle, resulting in the destruction of the aircraft. There were no fatalities or injuries reported.
