What happened
A maritime patrol mission originating from Sorong-Jefman Airport resulted in a fatal aviation accident near Fakfak. During the mission, the seaplane attempted to perform a landing maneuver in the waters of Patipi Bay. The aircraft failed to complete the landing successfully and struck the water, resulting in a crash.
As a result of the impact, there were five fatalities among those on board. Additionally, the accident left three injured crew members requiring medical attention. The flight was being conducted as part of a routine maritime patrol operation prior to the loss of control during the landing phase.
