Accident Sequence
On September 23, 2003, at 15:02 UTC, the aircraft landed on runway 34 at Vienna Airport. After a normal touchdown, the left main landing gear wheel locked. The tire burst, and the aircraft sank on the left side. Despite the pilot applying right rudder and brakes, the aircraft could not be kept on the runway centerline. It veered left, struck a runway edge light, and crossed the grass strip adjacent to the runway while drifting sideways. The aircraft came to a stop on taxiway B10.
Damage
The aircraft sustained damage to the underside of the left wing, left flap, left main landing gear, left wheel, left tire, and left rim. No injuries to occupants or others were reported in the investigation file.
