Accident Overview
A twin-engine aircraft conducting a charter flight from Quebec City to Bonaventure crashed into a wooded area on Mt Saint-Joseph, approximately 4 km north of Carleton. The accident occurred just before noon while the aircraft was cruising in poor visibility due to low clouds.
Sequence of Events
The aircraft struck trees, stalled, and subsequently crashed. The pilot was killed instantly. All five passengers on board sustained injuries, with three suffering serious injuries. Two passengers who were slightly injured decided to walk to seek help, reaching Carleton after about 7 hours of walking.
Rescue Operations
Rescue teams arrived at the crash site the following morning to evacuate the remaining three passengers.
