Incident Overview
A twin-engine aircraft, operating under the false registration N325FA, completed an illegal/contraband flight originating from Colombia. After entering Mexican airspace without authorization, the aircraft was tracked by two Embraer ERJ-145 and three UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters operated by the Mexican Air Force.
Landing and Crash
The crew landed the aircraft in a prairie near La Libertad, Campeche. Upon touchdown, the aircraft lost its undercarriage and slid for several dozen meters before striking a person on the ground and coming to rest.
Casualties and Aftermath
The person struck by a propeller was killed. All occupants of the aircraft, as well as individuals who were expected to take delivery of the cargo, fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Seized Cargo
A load of 460 kg of cocaine was found in the cabin of the aircraft.
