Aircraft and Operator Details
The aircraft involved was an Airbus A320-232, registration B-LCI, manufacturer serial number MSN4445, year of manufacture 2010. It was equipped with two IAE V2527-A5 turbo-fan engines. The operator was Hong Kong Express Airways Limited, and the flight was a scheduled public transport passenger service from Beijing Daxing International Airport (ZBAD) to Hong Kong International Airport (VHHH).
Accident Description
On 8 September 2025, at approximately 1034 hours local time, the aircraft was landing on Runway 07L at Hong Kong International Airport. During the landing rollout, the aircraft veered to the right and departed the runway, resulting in a runway excursion onto the grass area between Taxiways C6 and C7. The aircraft then continued across the grass, returned to the runway under its own power, and subsequently exited the runway and stopped on Taxiway Z. During the excursion, the aircraft damaged three runway edge lights and two Movement Area Guidance Signs located on the grass area. The aircraft sustained damage to its landing gear, right engine, and fuselage. The Airport Authority Hong Kong conducted runway inspections and confirmed the runway condition was normal; no damaged aircraft parts were found on the runway. There were 6 crew members and 131 passengers on board; no injuries were reported among crew or passengers. The passengers and crew were deplaned, and the aircraft was towed to a maintenance area.
Investigation Status
The Air Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) of Hong Kong was notified by the operator and has classified the occurrence as a serious incident. An investigation was instigated in accordance with Hong Kong Civil Aviation (Investigation of Accidents) Regulations and ICAO Annex 13. The BEA (France), as the investigation authority representing the State of Design and Manufacture, was notified and has nominated an Accredited Representative. The Civil Aviation Department, representing the State of Registry and Operator, was also notified. The investigation team has conducted interviews with the flight and cabin crew and collected flight documents, flight data, cockpit voice recording, airport CCTV footage, ATC and weather information. The investigation is ongoing, with detailed analysis of the collected data to determine the circumstances and causes. The anticipated duration of the investigation is up to twelve months. No probable cause has been identified at this preliminary stage.
