A cargo plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Mineralnye Vody while climbing at low altitude. The pilot was killed in the accident, which occurred during a right turn.

What happened

The incident involved a cargo flight operating out of Mineralnye Vody Airport with a destination of Rostov-on-Don. Shortly after lifting off, the aircraft was climbing to an altitude of approximately 25 metres when the pilot initiated a turn to the right. During this maneuver, the airplane stalled and descended rapidly, impacting the ground and bursting into flames. The pilot was killed in the crash.

Findings

Official investigations were unable to determine the exact mechanical or environmental cause of the accident. However, evidence suggests that the pilot rushed the takeoff procedure, likely to allow another aircraft to depart immediately behind them. It was established that the airplane covered only 620 metres on the runway before rotation. Furthermore, the speed during the initial turn was insufficient, which directly caused the stall.

Probable cause

The accident resulted from an insufficient airspeed during a post-takeoff turn, likely due to a rushed departure procedure.
