What happened
Shortly after departing from Chegdomyn, the aircraft experienced significant engine malfunctions characterized by power loss and misfiring. During this period, black smoke entered the cockpit, which severely restricted the pilot's visibility.
In response to the deteriorating conditions, the captain attempted to execute a return to the departure airfield. However, due to the state of the aircraft, a return to Chegdomyn was deemed unfeasible. The pilot subsequently lowered the altitude to perform an emergency landing. During this maneuver, the aircraft type struck trees and crashed.
Regarding the occupants, there were 12 total persons on board. The accident resulted in 4 fatalities, including a young boy who succumbed to his injuries less than one hour after the event. Additionally, 3 passengers sustained serious injuries, while the remaining 9 individuals escaped without harm.
Findings
Investigations into the incident determined that the primary cause was an engine failure triggered by the mechanical failure of the piston within cylinder number one.
