An aircraft crashed in an open field near Kalinovskaya after a technician took the plane for an unauthorized local flight, resulting in one fatality.

What happened

Between May 28 and May 31, an aircraft was stationed at Kalinovskaya to perform agricultural spraying operations for the Lenin's kolkhoz. During this period, a technician operating the aircraft decided to conduct an unauthorized local flight while the plane was parked.

Shortly after departing, the aircraft reached an altitude of approximately 500 meters. At this stage of flight, the pilot lost control of the aircraft. The plane entered a steep descent at a 60-degree angle before impacting an open field and catching fire. The sole occupant of the aircraft was killed in the crash.

Findings

Investigations into the incident confirmed that the technician was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. While investigators did not find evidence of intoxication, they noted that the possibility of a deliberate act, such as suicide, could not be entirely dismissed.

Probable cause

The cause remains undetermined, though investigators have ruled out intoxication and are considering the possibility of a self-inflicted incident.
