What happened
During an emergency medical transport mission, an aircraft operating under special permission to fly despite visibility being below minimum standards disappeared. While performing the ambulance flight, the crew encountered heavy snowfall and icing conditions. The aircraft subsequently crashed in the vicinity of Nazimov.
Following the failure of the flight to reach its intended destination, search and rescue operations were launched. These efforts continued for several days but were eventually terminated after no evidence of the wreckage or the occupants was located. On 18 June 1986, the debris was discovered in a remote, isolated location.
Investigation of the site revealed that the aircraft impacted treetops while maintaining a 30° nose-down angle before crashing into the forest.
