What happened
On a special mission conducted for the Tajik Civil Aviation Department, a twin-engine aircraft was performing a flight from Dushanbe to Lyakhsh. During the final approach phase, the aircraft descended to an inadequate altitude. The flight resulted in the aircraft striking the terrain approximately 210 metres before the start of the runway, positioned 50 metres to the right of the extended centerline.
Upon hitting the ground, the impact caused the undercarriage to be ripped from the airframe. The aircraft eventually came to a stop at the site of the impact. Despite the significant damage to the airframe, which was determined to be beyond economical repair, there were no casualties. All 13 occupants managed to exit the wreckage uninjured.
Findings
Investigations into the incident indicate that the aircraft was in an unstabilized approach at the time of the accident. The crew continued the descent despite the flight parameters being insufficient for a safe landing.
