What happened

While operating within Ethiopian airspace, the crew of a twin-engine aircraft encountered mechanical difficulties involving the engines. After notifying Air Traffic Control of the engine issues, the flight was granted permission to divert to Addis Ababa-Bole Airport to perform an emergency landing.

During the approach phase of the flight, the aircraft went down in an open field situated in the Legedadi area, approximately 20 km northeast of the destination airport. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. Both the pilot and the co-pilot sustained serious injuries during the accident.
