Accident
The accident sequence began when the aircraft was on its final approach to land at Rushan Airport. As it neared the runway, the aircraft experienced an unexpected loss of altitude. The aircraft contacted the ground at a point 40 meters before the designated runway threshold. Upon impact, the aircraft came to rest. The event did not result in any casualties. However, the extent of the damage was such that the aircraft was deemed beyond economical repair.
Probable Cause
An official investigation determined the probable cause of the accident. The pilot-in-command inadvertently moved the throttles to the idle position while on short final. This action caused the aircraft to lose height and strike the ground with a positive acceleration of 4.42 g.
