What happened
During an approach to Barnaul, an aircraft operating a flight from Zmeinogorsk experienced a loss of power in its engine. As the aircraft was descending toward its destination, the engine failure led to an aerodynamic stall. The plane subsequently impacted a wooded area.
Despite the impact and the resulting damage to the aircraft, there were no fatalities reported among those on board. The wreckage was determined to be a total loss, as the airframe sustained damage beyond the possibility of repair.
Findings
Investigations into the accident revealed that the engine ceased functioning due to fuel exhaustion. A critical discrepancy was noted regarding the cockpit instrumentation: at the time the engine stopped, the fuel gauge indicated that 150 liters of fuel remained in the tank, even though the fuel supply had actually been completely depleted.
