Background
The aircraft involved was a single-engine type that had been assigned to perform aerial spraying operations. It was stationed at Tenki after being dispatched for a local spraying mission prior to the incident.
Theft and Flight
While at Tenki, the aircraft was stolen by its copilot, who was in a state of intoxication. This individual then proceeded to take off from the Tenki base during the afternoon hours. On board with him were two other persons who did not have authorization to be on the flight.
Accident
The flight ended when the aircraft crashed into the Kuybyshev Reservoir under circumstances that remain unknown. No part of the aircraft wreckage was ever recovered from the water.
Recovery Efforts
In the days following the crash, two dead bodies were found in the Kama River. The third individual who had been on board has never been found, and their fate remains unknown.
