What happened
A flight departing from Zhelenogorsk-Ilimsky Airport, destined for Achinsk with a planned stop in Taseyovo, encountered a critical mechanical failure during its journey. The single-engine airplane, operated with a crew of two pilots and one passenger, was cruising at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters when the engine lost power. During this period, the oil temperature rose sharply from 70°C to 150°C.
Following the loss of engine power, the aircraft began to lose altitude, prompting the crew to initiate an emergency descent. The aircraft struck treetops before coming to a rest in a forested region situated roughly 60 km northeast of Bratsk. While the impact caused the aircraft to be damaged beyond repair, all three occupants managed to exit the wreckage without injury.
Findings
- The engine experienced a significant loss of power during the cruise phase.
- A rapid increase in oil temperature was recorded prior to the loss of power.
