What happened
During an agricultural mission involving the spraying of 252 acres at the Duksha sovkhoz, an aircraft crashed approximately 60 km from Magadan. The flight was operating near the Khasim River when the incident occurred.
Shortly after departing, while flying at an altitude between 10 and 20 meters, the pilot attempted a right-hand turn to avoid a forested area. During this maneuver, the right wing of the aircraft made contact with the tops of trees. This impact caused the plane to stall, leading to a crash that resulted in a post-impact fire. The accident resulted in two fatalities and the total destruction of the aircraft.
Findings
Investigations into the accident determined that the crew failed to adhere to established flight procedures. Specifically, the crew was operating at an insufficient altitude and failed to properly estimate the distance between the aircraft and nearby obstacles during the turn.
