Incident Overview and Context During crop spraying operations for the state farm 'Novomartynovski' in the Bolshaya Martynovka district of the Rostov region, an aircraft mechanic became intoxicated. Seeking to demonstrate his ability to pilot an aircraft, the mechanic stole the keys to the aircraft registered as CCCP-02599. He subsequently took off with a local resident as a passenger. ## Crash Sequence and Outcome The unauthorized pilot was unable to control the aircraft. The plane struck the tops of trees in a forest belt situated 1.7 km from the airstrip and 2.5 km from Krivoi Liman. The aircraft crashed at coordinates N47°13' E41°46', caught fire, and was completely destroyed. Both occupants on board were killed in the incident.
