What happened
A cargo operation traveling from Moma toward Saydy encountered severe weather conditions during its final approach. As the flight neared its destination, dense fog obscured the visibility of the landing area, making it impossible for the crew to identify the runway or landing zone.
During the descent, a disagreement occurred regarding the flight path; while the co-pilot proposed an immediate return to the previous location, the captain chose to proceed with the approach. While flying at approximately 100 meters above the ground, the aircraft began a minor left-hand turn. During this maneuver, the aircraft type (not specified) struck a hill and crashed.
The accident resulted in two injuries among the crew members on board.
Findings
Investigations into the crash determined that the primary factor was the captain's decision to maintain the descent despite weather conditions that were below established minimums. The crew was unable to maintain visual contact with the terrain due to the heavy fog present at the time of the impact.
