What happened
During an agricultural spraying operation for the Zauralny sovkhoz in the Kvarkeno district, an aircraft crashed near the village of Urtazym. While performing duties over the Orenburg region, the flight crew became preoccupied with recording a weather report received via radio. This distraction led to a continuous loss of altitude during the mission. The aircraft eventually struck a hill situated approximately one kilometer southwest of Urtazym.
The accident resulted in one fatality and one injury. The captain was killed in the impact, while the copilot sustained injuries.
Findings
Investigations into the crash identified that the pilots lacked sufficient experience for the mission. The crew's attention was diverted from flight controls to administrative tasks involving weather monitoring. Furthermore, it was determined that the pilot failed to follow established flight preparation procedures.
