What happened
During the final stages of an approach to Innyaly, the aircraft was flying at an altitude of approximately one meter when it began to float before rolling toward the left side. This maneuver caused the left main landing gear to make contact with the ground roughly 150 meters before reaching the runway threshold. Following this impact, the aircraft continued to travel for about 250 meters along a wet runway surface. During this excursion, the vehicle veered toward the right, breached a wooden fence, and eventually came to a stop after the left landing gear was completely detached from the airframe.
While the incident resulted in no fatalities or injuries, the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss.
Findings
Investigation into the event determined that the primary reason for the accident was a sudden change in wind direction and components encountered by the crew during short final. This windshear occurred at such a low altitude that the flight crew did not have sufficient time to execute a go-around maneuver. Additionally, the slippery condition of the wet runway surface was identified as an contributing factor to the loss of directional control.
