Incident
An aircraft traveling from Podkamennaya Tunguska to Yeniseysk suffered an engine failure while cruising at an altitude of 1,500 meters. The flight crew reduced altitude and initiated an emergency landing. During the attempt, the aircraft struck trees and crashed in a wooded area near the settlement of Yartsevo.
Rescue
All 13 individuals on board were rescued from the crash site. The aircraft sustained damage beyond repair.
Probable Cause
According to official findings, the engine failure occurred in flight due to carburetor icing. Investigators reported that the airplane had not been prepared for winter operations by the operator's maintenance personnel and remained configured for summer conditions. The engine failed after a three-hour flight in an outside air temperature of -30°C, as ice formed in the carburetor.
