What happened
During a cargo operation traveling from Ust-Kuyga to Suordakh, the crew of a single-engine airplane encountered complications during the final approach phase. While the runway was still occupied by individuals, the flight crew elected to abort the landing and perform a go-around.
During this maneuver, the aircraft executed an elongated flare before making contact with soft terrain. The impact with the unpaved surface led to a partial collapse of the landing gear. Although the two occupants managed to exit the wreckage without sustaining any injuries, the aircraft was declared a total loss due to extensive damage.
Findings
Official investigations concluded that the incident was driven by improper decision-making and incorrect maneuvers executed by the crew during the transition to the go-around.
