What happened
During a repositioning flight moving from Chelyabinsk toward Magnitogorsk, the crew encountered hazardous meteorological conditions characterized by heavy snowfall and visibility that had dropped below established minimums. While the aircraft was maintaining an altitude of approximately 300 meters, the pilot lost control of the plane.
The resulting impact occurred in a snow-covered field situated near Tokmasskiy, roughly 18 km northeast of Uyskaya. Upon investigation, the wreckage was discovered at a location approximately 6 km away from the intended flight path. The accident resulted in two fatalities, as both pilots on board were killed.
Findings
Official investigations concluded that the primary factor in the accident was the pilot-in-command experiencing spatial disorientation, which led to the subsequent loss of control of the aircraft.
